Scout's No. 5 player in 2018, Justin Fields, is still evaluating his options and is in no rush to make a decision.

Justin Fields is taking his time. Scout's No. 2 quarterback decommitted from Penn State this month and is in no rush to make a commitment. Who is in the mix for Scout's fifth best player in the country?

Scout Analyst John Garcia contributed to this report

Justin Fields caused quite the stir when he decommitted from Penn State earlier this month. It did not take long before the speculations began to come in. Where will Scout's No. 2 quarterback sign? At the moment, the Harrison High School playmaker is not prepared to answer that question.

"I wish I knew where I was going, but I really don't," said Fields. "I don't know what timeline. Hopefully I get it done before the season, but I don't want to rush anything this time around. I want to make sure I am 100 percent."

Although several schools reached out to the Peach State native, Fields says there are a few schools he is focusing on.

"Probably five [schools are in the mix]," said the five-star signal caller. " Penn StateGeorgiaFloridaFlorida State and Auburn. The teams that are kind of on a rope are UNC and Ole Miss."

Fields is taking the opportunity to visit a few schools this summer before leaping into any sort of decision. He has visited Auburn, Georgia and more recently FSU, when he participated in the Noles'  7-on-7 tournament.

"Just [FSU head] coach Jimbo [Fisher] coaching  me up at the camp, just how well that the coaches pack themselves together, and how much of a family they were," he said about what stood about his recent visit to Tallahassee. "I wanted to learn from him and that was my main goal going there. I wanted to learn from one of the best quarterback coaches in the country."

After a week packed with visits, Fields is currently participating at the  NFA 7v7 National Champion held at IMG Academy with Cam Newton's 7-on-7 team.  He remains unsure where he will visit next.

"I might be going to Florida next week I'm not sure," he said. "I haven't talked to my parents about it yet."

The Gators have been pursuing Fields for quite some time - even recruiting the quarterback when he was committed to Nittany Lions.

UF head coach Jim McElwain and offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier "just expressed to me that I'm their guy, their main guy. That is pretty much their clear message to me," he said about UF. "It is definitely humbling to know that I am their number one guy and I am the guy they want.  I definitely like that they tell me that."

According to Fields, the ability to play early and coach McElwain's and coach Nussmeier's track record in recent years is a draw.

"They have recent success at winning games," he said. "I think they can develop me into a good quarterback."

Stay with Scout as we continue to follow Justin Field's recruitment.
