ACC, Big Ten programs among those pursuing LB Grant Misch

Potomac Falls (Va.) outside linebacker Grant Misch's recruitment continues to surge and he spoke with Scout about the latest developments.

Over the past few months, Grant Misch's stock soared, and he has reached double-digit scholarship offers.

Misch is plans to narrow his list of schools to five in the next few weeks and hopes to commit by late July.

One of the schools showing the most interest is Maryland.

"I like how they'e a program on the rise and I think they're going to have a great season," said the 6-foot-4, 225-pound Misch. "They're building a lot of new facilities and coach (D.J.) Durkin is doing a great job.

"(Linebackers) coach (Matt) Barnes is recruiting me and I love him. He's told me they're very interested. I visited during spring practice and sat in the linebackers meetings. His energy is crazy and something you don't see in all coaches. I was very impressed with the enthusiasm at the practice too."

Besides Maryland, PurdueRutgersTemple and Virginia have offered among others.

Duke is a school that could be close to offering.

"(Offensive coordinator) coach (Zac) Roper and (assistant) coach (Sam) McGrath are both recruiting me," Misch said. "I like that two coaches are recruiting me, but I talk to coach McGrath the most. He's very knowledgeable and really knows the game.

"If they offered, it would definitely mean a lot. Duke offers a great combination of academics and football."

What is he looking for at the next level?

"Life after football is very important -- so academics will obviously play a big part," Misch said. "My relationship with the coaching staff will also play a significant role."
