"I had some good choices but ASU just had too many pluses for me to turn them down," Flowers said. "I honestly couldn't find a single negative about the program, it was the perfect fit for me all around and I'm very excited right now about my decision.
"I think what stands out is the coaching staff and my fit in the offense. They like to run the football and have a similar offense to what we do at Bosco. The coaches told me I'll have a chance to step in and compete for playing time right away and I think I can do really well in their power running scheme."
Flowers said it wasn't just one coach who stood out for him, it was the whole staff.
"I got to know several coaches and have a great relationship with those guys," Flowers said. "I was talking with Coach (John) Simon, the RB coach, Billy Napier, the OC and even the head man, Todd Graham. Having the head coach involved was big because it shows they really want you. He has the last say so when he tell you how great you would fit, it means a lot.
"I visited a couple of months ago and just loved it there. I had a chance to meet some of the players and the other running backs on the team really took me in. They made me feel like part of the team already and I think academically, it's a great fit for me too, that's what my parents were really excited about."
Flowers said he's planning to take another visit to ASU July 15.
"It feels really good to have this decision out of the way," Flowers said. "Now I can just focus on school and football and getting better. I had some great options like I said but in the end, ASU was just too good to pass up. I'm excited to get out there again and just happy to a Sun Devil."
In Flowers, ASU is landing one of the top power backs in the region. He's a physical kid who can wear down a defense and has more speed than given credit for. He's a downhill back who doesn't try and shake and wiggle too much but is a decisive runner, a one cut and go back and is very tough to bring down in the open field.
Flowers catches the ball well out of the backfield as well and is always falling forward on contact. We envision him as an every down back who won't need to leave the field and will be a load to deal down on the goal line but can also be a threat out of the backfield.
