Three-star QB Tyler DeSue excited about Maryland future

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- Tyler DeSue committed to Maryland about two and a half months ago and spoke with Scout about his decision, future with the Terrapins and more.

Tyler DeSue committed to Maryland in April.

He is excited about his decision and future.

"I'm definitely very happy to be committed to Maryland," said the 6-foot-1, 192-pound DeSue. "I'm still working hard every day because there are a lot of great players going there and I've got to continue to improve to compete with them."

DeSue's relationship with wide receivers coach and recruiter Chris Beatty continues to grow.

"He's from this area and we have a great relationship," DeSue said. "He and the rest of the coaching staff stress competition. They're going to play the best guys regardless if they're young or older."

The Bishop Sullivan signal-caller also has a strong relationship with offensive coordinator coach Walt Bell.

"He's the real deal," DeSue said. "He's honest, straightforward and gets the best out of guys."

DeSue is excited about what head coach D.J. Durkin has done in a short amount of time and ready to play for him.

"He wants to win games and he's going to recruit the best players," DeSue said. "He's focused on getting better and winning a Big Ten Championship."

Bishop Sullivan opens their season Aug. 26 at home against Plantation (Fla.) American Heritage at 6 p.m.
