National powers vying for No. 8 prospect Jamaree Salyer

Beaverton, Ore. -- Atlanta (Ga.) Pace Academy offensive guard Jamaree Salyer is one of the most coveted players in the country and the five-star prospect spoke with Scout at The Opening Finals.

Jamaree Salyer is taking his time with the recruiting process.

However, he has six top schools.

"I'm just looking to get around to some more schools," said the 6-foot-4, 342-pound Salyer. "The main schools for me right now are GeorgiaClemson, Ohio State, Stanford, Florida and Notre Dame.

"I'm still open to some (other) schools, but those are the main schools for me right now.  I'll probably narrow it down to a top three in the middle of the season and make my decision after the season."

Salyer has taken several trips.

"I've had a chance to visit the majority of those schools, talk to the coaches and gotten a good vibe from the schools. I'm hoping to get back to Georgia, get back to Clemson again, down to Florida and back up to Ohio State.

"All the visits make it tough not to commit. Everybody gets close sometimes. I can say sometimes that I feel like maybe this is the place to be. But then I go somewhere else and say the same thing. I've felt that way at a couple different places -- not just one. I want to make sure I know where I want to go and that I'm not jumping on something too early."

What are going to be the deciding factors for Salyer?

"Ultimately for any 16, 17 or 18-year-old kid, it's going to be where you're most comfortable and a place where you feel like you can make an impact. Those two things are big for me."
