Scout 300 DT Stephon Wynn Provides Alabama with Versatility, Suddenness and Undeniable Effort

Scout examines the skill set of new Alabama commit and 2018 Scout 300 defensive tackle, Stephon Wynn.

Name: Stephon Wynn

Position: Defensive Tackle

Height/Weight: 6-foot-4, 254 Pounds

Scouting Report:

Wynn is a versatile defensive lineman who does a good job of playing under control and tracking the football. He also flashes impressive hand use when steering and disengaging from offensive linemen, but overall, Wynn is a kid who has the ability to slide up and down the line.

Wynn is one who typically wins the leverage battle as well. He shoots off the ball with decent pad level, and certainly holds his own when getting underneath his opponent with force. Wynn also makes full use of his length by extending out to stun offensive linemen.

Explosiveness, as well as finding some go-to moves in the trenches, are things to focus on moving forward, but Wynn is an aggressive defender who is always looking to dish out punishment. Once latching onto his opponent, Wynn makes sure to drive his opponent to the turf with force. He flashes that suddenness in the trenches as well.

Wynn also shows decent change of direction for a prospect of his stature. The motor is always running, and reading and reacting to the ball is one of Wynn's best traits. Wynn is just relentless when navigating through clutter and finding his lane to the ball carrier, but once it is all said and done, I expect him to settle down in the interior.
