The nation's No. 3 2019 outside linebacker attended Lasch Bash on Saturday.
"It was great," said the 6-foot-4, 215-pound Smith. "I had a chance to meet other recruits and some of the players.
"We also saw the Art Festival downtown, played games and ate great food. But my favorite part was having my grandfather and uncle experience it.
"Penn State is definitely on my short list. I love coach (James) Franklin and his staff."
The Louisa County standout stayed overnight and attended Penn State's Sunday camp.
"The camp went very well," Smith said. "My times and testing went well. I ran a 4.6 40-yard dash and 4.2 (20-yard) shuttle. I also learned a lot from (defensive coordinator) coach (Brent) Pry."
During the two-day trip, Smith spent the most time with Pry.
"He's a hands-on, passionate coach," Smith said. "He said I did a great job. He also said he loves my length and that I was stronger than he thought."
Smith also spent some time with coach Franklin.
"I talked with him on both days," Smith said. "Me and my family met with him in his office today. He talked about me being a great fit. He said they love me as a student and player. I love coach Franklin's personality and energy."
Smith does not have a date, but said he will definitely visit Penn State for a game this fall.
