Julian Barnett was already established as one of the Midwest's best, and had several offers outside the region to prove he has a national prospect. But the 6-foot-2, 185-pound athlete still had a chip on his shoulder when he arrived in Tuscaloosa for an Alabama camp on Sunday.
He posted to Twitter that he wanted to show that the talent in Michigan is as good as it is in other states which may receive more recruiting attention. Barnett certainly proved he belonged as earned an Alabama offer at the camp.
A high school wide receiver, safety and even linebacker sometimes, Barnett has shown cornerback skills during spring and summer camp stops, and this latest offer came as a corner.
"Bama is Bama," he said. "Who couldn’t like Bama?"
His camp stop, along with a previous visit to campus in the spring, has given him familiarity with the program and stuff.
"Their facilities are great and it means a lot to have an offer from the NFL U," he said. "It feels good to work with one of the best coaches in the game."
