"I don't even know how many offers I have. It's a bunch… at least 25. Iowa and Wisconsin are some of the highest ranked teams that have offered."
The Huber Heights, OH star commented on his official visit to Purdue and spoke about Virginia's chances at landing an official visit.
"I just took an official visit to Purdue. I thought it was real nice. I had a real in-depth look at the school. They've had some great receivers recently too…like Taylor Stubblefield, and John Standeford."
"But still, I'm definitely interested in Virginia. I'd say they are in my Top 5. Right now I really don't have any favorites, but UVa is definitely in my Top 5."
What could become major factors in Orton's recruitment?
"Where I end up will be a combination of things, such as playing time, academics, and the type of offense. Location won't really be a factor. Virginia's farther away, but I have family in Virginia."
Orton has visited Charlottesville and had this to say about the trip.
"I went there last winter for the Duke game. The campus was real nice. I really liked the campus, I liked the atmosphere too. I definitely want to get back down there and get a better look at it though"
He later added, "They are definitely in my top 5 so I can see them getting an official visit."
With only a few scholarship spots remaining, Virginia targets might feel as if they need to commit in order to save themselves a spot. This hasn't been the case with Orton.
"They haven't really pushed me to commit. They've just said ‘whenever you feel comfortable'," said Orton. "Coach Groh and my recruiting coordinator Coach Rocco are great. They are real honest and upfront. I really like them."
Greg Orton made 59 catches for 782 yards and 11 touchdowns last season.
