Tyler Doering, a 6-foot-5, 290-pound, offensive lineman, from Barrington, Ill., is going to be a prospect to watch in 2006. The brother of former U.S. Army All-American and current Iowa Hawkeyes offensive lineman, Dan Doering, Tyler doesn't quite have the athleticism of his older brother yet but he does understand the game and his position.
Watch these clips from Tyler Doering's junior season and you'll see that he's got very good knee bend, he keeps a nice flat back and his first step is adequate. What I like most about Tyler is that he gets out on the linebackers, he can change direction in space and he can hit a moving target.
I see a lot of upside in Doering. I feel that Tyler's best football is ahead of him. He needs to get stronger and he'll need to get quicker. I can see him moving inside and playing guard at the next level. Doering is already athletic enough to reach linebackers, pull and trap and now he'll just need to get stronger in order to deal with run stuffing defensive tackles.
