Weatherford Back from Tuscaloosa

Sunshine State quarterback Joe Weatherford participated in Alabama's Senior mini-camp Sunday afternoon. He is the younger brother of Florida State quarterback Drew Weatherford, and he has received five scholarship offers. Weatherford is looking for that number to increase over the course of the summer.

"I just got back from Alabama," said Joe Weatherford from Land O' Lakes, (Fla.). "I went to their camp Sunday, and it went really well. I talked to all the coaches. I talked to coach [Mike] Shula and coach [Dave] Rader for a while. I liked everything about the camp."

"I thought I did well. There were a lot of good quarterbacks there. I knew a few of them from the week before at the Ole Miss camp. I thought Robert Marve looked good. I didn't do as good as I thought I could but, I got the job done."

"The coaches told me I did a good job. They said they look forward to recruiting me. They have a list of quarterbacks they are evaluating, and I am one of them."

The Tide camp has sparked high interest from Weatherford as he continued, "It doesn't get much better than Alabama. It's a great school. I would love to go there. It's about the best you can get."

Weatherford passed for 1,975 yards and 15 touchdowns during his junior campaign.

"I have offers from UConn, Florida International, Louisville, UCF and Ohio University," he said. "I am not really sure which other schools are close to offering. I went to Ole Miss and Alabama's camp. They have both said they are very interested."

When asked favorites Weatherford replied, "I am not really sure about all my favorites but, I think UCF is my overall favorite. All the schools I have been to have nice facilities but, I really like the coaches at UCF. The quarterback situation is very good, and it's close to home."

Weatherford plans to attend camps at Florida Atlantic, N.C. State and SMU.
