"I'm working on that (top five) right now," said Blackwell. "I should have one by the end of the summer."
Last season, Scout.com's 13th ranked defensive tackle in the country recorded 80 tackles and eight sacks. He earned first team all-district, all-parish and all-state.
While Blackwell said he isn't a fan of one particular team in college football, he did say he has always carried an affinity for the SEC.
"I really like anybody in the SEC," said Blackwell. "I never had a big favorite, but I usually pull for one SEC team or another."
Blackwell said he is being recruited by LSU offensive line coach Satcey Searels and he talked with him yesterday.
"We were just text messaging each
other about everything, not really football," said Blackwell. "He told me that
Andrew Withworth was in town and that I should go talk to him. I caught up with
him and we talked about
Blackwell said he likes Searels because he makes him feel comfortable.
"He is real personable," said the 4-star prospect. "He's pretty funny sometimes and he's somebody you can get along with well. I think over the past couple of months we've built a pretty good relationship."
Blackwell said he has been to the
"I like the way they win," said Blackwell. "They have state of the art facilities, a great coaching staff and a good atmosphere. Playing soon will matter a little, but as long as I play by my sophomore year I'll be okay. Playing time will always be a factor though."
LSU coaches told Blackwell there are two positions he may play, but that they will both be on the defensive line.
"They told me I'd either play defensive end or defensive tackle," he said. "It doesn't really matter to me. I just want to play defense."
Note** Blackwell said he has a 3.5 GPA and scored a 24 on his ACT. However, he said he plans to take it again in an attempt to score a 27 or 28.
