On May 13th, 2002 – Midwest Recruiting & Film Evaluation Reported.
Sean Walker, a 6-foot-3, 230-pound, linebacker, tight end from Mudelein (Ill) Carmel will be a prospect to watch in 2002. Walker will be a three-year starter and was moved up to the varsity at the end of his freshman year.
"Sean is a definite D-1 prospect." Said Carmel Head Coach Andy Bitto. "I see him as a linebacker in college. Sean just makes things happen on the football field. As a linebacker, he'll make big plays and on offense he's a terrific blocker with excellent hands."
Walker doesn't have a scholarship offer yet and that may be because he's a Major League baseball prospect. Sean says although he does love baseball, football has his heart.
"I want to focus on one sport and I'd like to play football in college." Walker said. "Obviously if I get drafted next year, that will make my decision tougher. Right now I'm focused on football.
"I've been getting letters from a lot of schools. If I had to pick some favorites they'd be Illinois, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Michigan and Florida."
Walker has already visited Illinois and Northwestern. Sean had 573 yards receiving and eight touchdowns as a junior. He played linebacker half way through the season and recorded 26 solo tackles and three sacks.
On July 25, 2002 Sean Walker said--
"Northern Illinois has offered me a scholarship." Walker said. "I've been playing a lot of baseball this summer. I did go to camp at Illinois. I'd say that Iowa is probably recruiting me the hardest now.
"My favorites are still Notre Dame, Michigan State, Illinois, Florida, Michigan and Iowa."
