Cameron Ford: Stock Is Rising

T.L. Hanna (Anderson, SC) wide receiver Cameron Ford is considered by many to be one of the top sleeper prospects in the Palmetto State this year, and he has seen his stock rise in recent months. At 6'4, 212 pounds, Ford has the frame to play tight end at the next level, and several major programs are keeping a close eye on him this season.

"N.C. State and Kentucky have offered me. South Carolina, Georgia Tech, and Louisville are all showing interest."

The in-state Gamecocks are showing strong interest in Ford, and though they have not yet offered him, Ford has built a solid relationship with his recruiter and potential position coach, Fred Chatham.

"Coach Chatham is my recruiter. I just like him, and he knows what he's talking about. He's a cool guy."

While Ford is hoping for more offers to come in, the talented prospect stated that he will continue to do the best he can and let his play do the talking on the field.

"I don't know. I'm just going to continue playing as good as I can. Hopefully stuff will work out."

Ford is teammates with current South Carolina commitment Brian Maddox, and though he is still waiting for an offer from the Gamecocks, he said that Maddox is already working him to join him at Carolina.

"He's been telling me to go there if they offer me."

According to Ford, several factors will ultimately play into his final decision.

"The academics, the coaching staff, and everyone I meet there. Also, the program and how it's going."

While several schools are still evaluating him, one team currently stands at the top of Ford's list.

"It's N.C. State."

For now, Ford is just enjoying his senior season, and though the Wolfpack are his current favorite, he stated that he is in no rush to make a final decision for his college choice.

"I'll probably wait until a little bit longer. I don't know until when."

Ford, who plays wide receiver, outside linebacker, and even handles kicking duties for T.L. Hanna, talked about how his season is going thus far.

"It's going real well. We're 5-1, and I have 19 receptions for 460 yards and 11 touchdowns. I also play outside linebacker, and I have three or four defensive touchdowns."

When asked to describe his strengths as a player, Ford gave the following response.

"I'm just big and physical. I can run really well for my size. I'm strong, and I just play with a lot of enthusiasm."

Lastly, Ford, who is known to be a workhorse both on and off the field, commented on the areas he would still like to improve in.

"I'd like to get stronger and faster, of course. I just want to improve all around."
