Panthers in the hunt for Florida DT

The University of Pittsburgh continues to pursue a number of agile defensive tackles. It appears a number of schools, including Pitt, are in hot pursuit of a sleeper prospect from Boca Raton, FL. Will this prospect visit Pitt? Read on for details.

"I'm starting to have a lot more school regularly contact me," stated defensive tackle A.J. Ganguzza (6-foot-3 inches, 260 pounds) from West Boca Raton High School in Boca Raton, FL. "Syracuse, Pitt, North Carolina State, Connecticut, South Carolina, FAU and FIU are in contact all the time."

Ganguzza currently has offers from FAU and FIU but should change in a matter of time. He has scheduled official visits Syracuse (12/1) and North Carolina State (12/8). Both have indicated that an offer may be extended to A.J. during the visits.

"My main contact with Pitt has been Coach (Charlie) Partridge. Pitt likes me at defensive tackle. Connecticut, South Carolina and Syracuse are the other schools that like me at that position as well. The other schools want me on the offensive line."

Ganguzza finished his junior season with 92 tackles and 5 sacks. He was named 2nd team All-County on the defensive line. A.J. transferred to West Boca Raton High School from Pope John Paul High School his junior year.

A.J. is capable of bench pressing 310 pounds and squatting 515 pounds. When asked about his strengths, he stated, "I get off the ball quickly and I use my hands well. I'm explosive and aggressive."

"I'm going to talk to Coach Partridge after the season and set up a visit with Pitt. I know they are looking to rebuild their defensive line. I could see myself playing there."
