4 Star is headed South this weekend

Kenny Rowe (DE, Long Beach, CA) - Scout.com's #16 nationally rated DE will be making a trip to the Deep South this weekend.

"I set up a visit with Ole Miss for this weekend. Coach Neilson (for Ole Miss) came by the house Monday night, and we got it scheduled," added Kenny Rowe.

What got the Long Beach resident interested in a college so far from home?

"Their head coach (Ed Orgeron) use to coach the defensive line at (U)SC. I use to go over there a bunch, and he was always my favorite coach over there. When he left to Ole Miss, he started recruiting me for them. Plus, they have a good academic situation down there, and I have a chance to make an immediate impact if I go there."

Kenny took an official visit to California (10/7) and Arizona (9/30) earlier this fall.

"It was nice at Arizona. The campus was real nice, and their coaches were pretty cool. I went over to California for their homecoming weekend. Their students really got into the game, and the campus was cool too."

Which colleges are in the running for official visit #4 & 5?

"Oregon and Fresno State are the main two."

What stands out about each school?

"Oregon's school is good, the academic part, and I like their coaches. Fresno State is a place where I can start early and their coaches are pretty cool."

Which colleges are showing Rowe the most interest?

"Probably Ole Miss and Oregon. They come by the house, check up on me daily, and just go that extra mile with me. But they all are showing me a good amount of interest."

When decision time rolls around; what will be the main factors?

"Is it a good academic school? And I will look at their depth chart for my position."

Which is?

"Rush end. That is what they are all recruiting me for, to get after the passer."

Kenny had a disappointing ending to his season.

"We lost in the semifinals in D1. We finished 11-2. I am still in disbelief that we lost that game. It has been pretty tough on me. I can not get it off of my mind."

Rowe demonstrated on the field why Scout.com has him ranked #16 nationally at DE.

"I finished the season with 100 tackles and 17 sacks."

Kenny carries a 2.65 Core GPA / 790 SAT (old format) which makes him a full qualifier.
