Kiernan receives visit from Kragthorpe three-star DL/OL prospect Zach Kiernan, who verbally committed to Louisville in October, received an in-home visit from new Cardinal head coach Steve Kragthorpe on Sunday.

One of the first in-home visits made by new University of Louisville head coach Steve Kragthorpe was with Cardinal commit Zach Kiernan of Newport (Ky.) Central Catholic. A 6-foot-6, 240-pound offensive/defensive line prospect, Kiernan verbally committed to Louisville in October over scholarship offers from Cincinnati and Kentucky.

"He came by my house last night," Kiernan said of Kragthorpe. "We talked for about an hour and a half."

An All-State performer, Kiernan told on Monday that he's looking forward to playing for Kragthorpe.

"It was good a visit," said Kiernan. "He told about where he's been, his style and the way he coaches. I really liked him and I'm looking forward to playing for him."

Despite learning about Bobby Petrino's departure earlier than most, the news still came as a shock and had the three-star prospect thinking about his other opportunities.

"Coach Brohm called me to let me know, but it was still a surprise," said Kiernan. "At first I thought about looking around, but how (U of L) handled things made things a lot easier for me."

Kiernan, who has made multiple unofficial visits with Louisville during the recruiting process, will make his official visit with Cardinal program this weekend.

"I'm going down there this week for my (official) visit," said Kiernan. "I want to see the living spaces and the classrooms. I haven't seen or been in a classroom yet."

U of L head coach Steve Kragthorpe also visited fellow Cardinal commit Mark Wetterer on Sunday night. will have a report on that in-home visit soon.
