Jarvis Humphrey: Still Being Recruited

Arguably the top defensive tackle in Texas, Cedar Hill's Jarvis Humphrey, was one of the most sought after prospects in the Lone Star State this year. Longhorn fans were more than excited when Humphrey chose Texas over Oklahoma State in early March, but that hasn't stopped other teams from contacting the big defensive tackle.

"Yes sir," Jarvis Humphrey said when asked if he was still solid with Texas. "I still open it (mail) up and look at it, but nothing other than that."

Humphrey didn't attend a Texas junior day and hasn't had much of a chance to meet the members of his recruiting class. He will get that opportunity on June 10th at UT's summer camp.

"I just want to see how things work, so I won't be so surprised when I get up there," Humphrey said. "I have met Riley Dodge and Tre Newton before I committed. I think that they are going to fit in perfect at Texas."

Humphrey helped lead Cedar Hill to a state championship in 2006. He is excited about his senior season and is hoping for a repeat.

"I just want to play with a lot of emotion, fast and hard," Humphrey said. "I really want to get back to state."

Cedar Hill is also home to one of the top prospects in the 2009 class, Thomas Ashcraft. Is Humphrey whispering in Ashcraft's ear?

"Yeah, a little bit," Humphrey laughed. "He said that he wouldn't mind going to Texas. I think he is supposed to be coming to camp with me, but I'm not sure."
