1st Offer on the Books

Hard-hitting linebacker, Chris Richard from Destrehan High School had been waiting on his first offer and now the wait is over.

"I spoke to the coaches from Louisiana Tech and they offered me a scholarship," Richard explained. "Although I've never officially visited the school, I'm still very interested in the offer."

Last season, Richard (6-0, 195, 4.5) recorded 65 tackles, nine sacks, and four interceptions, earning him first team all-district honors.

Richard has been doing a lot of camping this summer and he says the experience was as good as he thought it would be.

"I've been to the University of Miami at Florida camp, an Ole Miss camp and an Alabama camp," he said. "I ran a 4.5 in the 40 yard dash at the Miami camp. At the Ole Miss camp the coaches had us doing a lot of 1-on-1 and 7-on-7 drills. I felt like I got a lot of good vibes from the Ole Miss coaches. They seemed to be very interested in me. The Alabama camp was probably my favorite though. Coach Saban had us working out more than anything. He was putting us in different coverages and he had us doing a lot of running."

With less than a month to go before he reports to fall camp at Destrehan, Richard still has some camping left in him.

"I'm at Georgia Tech right now and then I go to the LSU camp on July 17th, Richard he said. "I've been to Georgia Tech before and I thought the campus was nice. I'm really looking forward to this camp."

Richard does not currently know what school he will be playing for at the next level, but he does have an idea what his position will be.

"I play linebacker for my high school, but all of the college coaches are recruiting me at strong safety," Richard said. "It doesn't bother me though because I'm willing to play anything."
