Last time USFNation spoke with Davon Johnson he was coming off a solid spring game performance and said "USF is showing some love". He also said that he is looking to visit a few schools, including LSU, SC and Rutgers for a team camp.
Now, mid-way through summer and coming off a visit to Rutgers Johnson is ready to name favorites. He has 12 offers total but says he's really only focused on four of them.
"The main teams I'm looking at are LSU, South Carolina, South Florida and Miami." Adding, "That's not in any order, just the teams I'm concentrating on."
Since our last interview with Johnson, he says USF has really stepped up the recruiting effort.
"I text with Coach (Larry) Scott all the time, he actually text me last night. We usually talk family, school, just regular stuff. He doesn't talk too much football with me. He says to keep thinking about South Florida football, but also to enjoy my senior season."
Johnson says that he is done with visits for the summer and will participate in a 7-on-7 camp at Belle Glade this coming weekend. He also shared with USFNation where he plans to take official visits to in the fall.
"I know I'm going to visit LSU, SC and USF sometime in the fall."
He listed each of those teams in his top 4, but didn't mention visiting Miami.
"I might take a visit there. I've seen the facilities, so I'm not sure right now if I'll take an official."
For USF Johnson is one of the top WR prospects on the board and would be a big time get. It won't be easy, the Bulls are going up against some of the most prestigious football programs in the country. A commitment from a wide-out of this caliber would sure help in landing an impact quarterback like Star Jackson or B.J. Daniels.
