The Woodlands Pipeline

The Woodlands High School has produced several current Red Raiders, including WR Danny Amendola and S Daniel Charbonnet. Another Woodlands prospect is on the coaching staff's radar, offensive lineman Brandon Thompson. Come inside as RaiderPower talks with Thompson about the Red Raiders' chances of landing the 3 star prospect.

The annual Red-Black game is a great opportunity for Texas Tech fans to get an early peek at the football team. Not only is it fun for fans, it gives recruits a chance to come in and check out what Tech has to offer. The Woodlands offensive lineman Brandon Thompson did just that and took in Lubbock first hand.

Brandon Thompson, a 3 star offensive tackle out of The Woodlands HS, has already made an unofficial visit to Lubbock. Thompson took in the annual Red-Black game and walked away impressed.

"I liked my visit at Tech. I liked the coaches and I knew some of the players," said the 6'6, 284 pound lineman. "I know Tyler and Daniel (Charbonnet) and (Danny) Amendola. They all went to The Woodlands and it was good to know some of the guys there."

The Red Raiders have made quite a splash in The Woodlands, landing several prospects over the last few years. Having these players already on campus will give Tech a leg up on their competition when Thompson starts narrowing down his decision.

"Knowing people helps me feel more comfortable," said Thompson. "I want to get away from The Woodlands, but knowing people would make the move easier."

Although Tech is sitting well with Brandon, there are still several other schools still after his services.

"I will be visiting A&M this weekend, and then I'll probably head to Stillwater next week. I would also like to visit Nebraska sometime too. After I visit those 3 schools, I'll probably come home and narrow down my list."

Brandon said that Northwestern, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, and Arizona are recruiting him the hardest.

Although Brandon is being very proactive with the recruiting process, don't expect him to make a decision anytime soon.

"I don't have a set time frame for making my commitment. It probably won't be before the season. I want to make sure I make the right decision."
