Four Standing Out to Givans

Vinson Givans hasn't picked up any offers yet, but is flirting with a foursome of Division I-A level programs right now and has drawn the interest of many at the I-AA level as well. We caught up with Givans to see which programs he has been in contact with the most lately and find where he camped this summer.

Vinson Givans, a 5-foot-11, 205-pound outside linebacker from Cambridge Rindge & Latin High School in Cambridge, Mass., is hearing from plenty of I-AA level programs at this point, but Vanderbilt, Temple, Connecticut and Boston College are also looking at him. Recently the athlete attended three camps and talked about those experiences as well as some of the schools recruiting him.

"I camped at Temple, Connecticut and Hofstra," Givans explained. "Vanderbilt and Boston College have also been recruiting me along with a long list of Division I-AA schools, especially from this area."

"My camps all went really well and I liked it at Connecticut and Temple," Givans added. "Temple was a really tough camp and there were plenty of other coaches there that told me that I performed well. The campus was nice and I liked that it was in the middle of Philadelphia because there is so much to do there. The coaching staff at Temple was also great. Connecticut was also very good and Jesse Sparks and I went up to that camp together. We had a lot of fun getting to know the players and coaches and the campus and facilities were really nice."

"As for Vanderbilt, I just talked to the coaching staff this month and like them because they are referred to as the Harvard of the South. I would love to go there because they have such great academics, they are far away from home so I would be part of a different culture and because they play in the SEC which is the best conference in the country."

As a junior, Givans registered 90 tackles, 15 of which came for a loss, three sacks, two interceptions and four forced fumbles on his way to earning second-team All-League honors.
