Tanner Hawkinson Talks Jayhawks' Season

Tanner Hawkinson, Scout.com four-star tight end from McPherson, Kansas, is off to a solid start to his senior season. Hawkinson attended the first home game of the Jayhawks, and he likes the success of his future destination.

"I went to the season opener against Central Michigan," Tanner Hawkinson said. "I may go back up there this weekend. I may go to the Nebraska and the Missouri game as well."

"The first few games they have put up some big numbers and holding them on defense. They have some tough games coming up, but they should be fine."

Kansas has outscored their opponents 159-20 in the first three games. Those games were against Central Michigan, Southeastern Louisiana and Toledo. Hawkinson has seen a lot of points on the board, and the use of the tight ends.

"They definitely still want me to come in and play tight end," he said. "They are using the tight end a lot. Derek Fine caught about four or five passes and a touchdown at the game I attended. They are incorporating the tight end more on offense."

Hawkinson is a solid commitment to Kansas and focused on his senior season.

"We are doing pretty good this year," he said. "We are 2-1 with our loss coming from Hutchinson. They are the three time defending state champions. We have blown out the other two teams. I have been doing well."
