4-Star DE Makes Commitment

Corey Liuget is a four-star defensive end prospect from the state of Florida and the Hialeah High standout has made a commitment. He gave Scout.com the first scoop so read on for the details...

Corey Liuget has scholarship offers from programs all across the country. On Sunday, he decided to make a commitment.

"I'm just coming back from my visit to Illinois and I made a commitment to them," Liuget said. "Everything went great. The coaches were great. I got along with all the players. I was hosted by C.J. Christian, Juice Williams, and Arrelious Benn. I thought I fit in just like family there and that's where I wanna be."

Liuget, 6-foot-3 and 270 pounds, believes he has a chance to play early in his career at Illinois.

"You just have to go in and work hard," he said. "Everyone has talent at the next level so you can't be lazy. Over the last three years, they've had a lot of young players play a lot of freshmen or sophomores and that's something I like. I think Coach Zook is doing a great job."

The talented defensive lineman, who is being recruited by Illinois assistant Reggie Mitchell, said he may not be finished with his visits.

"I'll be taking a few more," he said. "I'm looking at Rutgers, South Florida, Central Florida, LSU, Florida State, Georgia Tech, and Ohio State," he said. "If something better comes up, then I'll consider it but right now I'm committed."

Liuget, who said he could play end or tackle at Illinois, is having a solid senior season. His team is 3-4 and he has 40 tackles and seven sacks. He's waiting for the results of the SAT he took recently.
