Allport Commits to Dream School

Ian Allport recently picked up his first two offers from Syracuse and Albany, but it was the offer from the Orange that really piqued his interest. When we last spoke with the offensive lineman he told us that when the written offer hit his kitchen table he would be verbally committing and on Sunday night he followed through, giving Coach Brian White his word over the phone.

Ian Allport, a 6-foot-5, 299-pound two-way lineman from Pulaski Senior High School in Pulaski, N.Y., had been being recruited by other programs like Wagner, Albany, Maine and Hofstra, but tonight he decided to jump on a written offer from Syracuse University, giving them a versatile lineman that could play offensive guard or defensive tackle.

"I just verbally committed to Syracuse two minutes ago," Allport exclaimed. "I talked to Coach Brian White who told me that was fantastic news and that he was very excited to have me on board. I am expecting a call here from Head Coach Greg Robinson in a few minutes so we can talk as well."

"I have always dreamed of playing for Syracuse and grew up a fan watching them on television, so I'm just very excited right now," Allport added. "It is very close to home so my family can come watch me and I plan on taking my official visit in a few weeks to learn more about the school."

Allport was also being recruited by Temple at one point.

As a junior, he made 40 tackles, 10 for loss, five sacks, forced three fumbles and recovered two. He was named first-team All-League at offensive tackle, second-team All-League and defensive tackle, honorable mention All-CNY and second-team All-State.

Allport reports a max bench press of 375 pounds and a max squat of 500 pounds.
