Post Commitment Interview: Guy Reynolds

"I'm solid", says center Guy Reynolds after committing to Idaho last night.

After making his official visit to Idaho on Nov. 10th, center Guy Reynolds from Avondale (AZ) Westview came back to Phoenix impressed enough to name the Vandals as his favorite. He was so impressed on his visit in fact, that he nearly committed while in Moscow. He decided to mull things over and discuss it with his parents and told Scout.com in a previous interview that he would have a decision in late November, when Idaho head coach Robb Akey was scheduled to do an in-home visit.

That visit was last night and Reynolds (6-3 315) informed Scout.com late that he committed to Akey and offensive coordinator Steve Axeman , who also attended the visit.

Committing last night was not quite what Reynolds originally planned, "I had the feeling that I wasn't going to do it (last night)," he tells Scout.com in an exclusive interview.

Plans changed as the visit continued, "They came and impressed my whole family and it reminded me of the good time I had up there," adding, "My Dad kept giving me hints and smiling at me (to commit)."

Reynolds decided to pull the trigger right before Akey and Axeman left. "I was real nervous and scratching my face. They asked me if I had something I wanted to say and I committed. Coach Akey almost jumped out of his shoes." Reynolds adds, "I liked it too much up there."

Factors Reynolds cited for committing were, "I love the coaching staff, I love the team chemistry and how young the team is. That's what pulled me in."

Reynolds says he is a firm commitment and really appreciated how hard the Idaho staff recruited him, "Idaho put forth the effort, and every coach took the time to write me."

Offensive line coach Dan Finn is excited to get a player like Reynolds. Guy states, "He likes how I finish blocks and don't stop until the end of the echo of the whistle."

Guy does not envision a problem qualifying. He says he carries a 3.35 GPA and scored a 16 on his ACT. He is thinking of majoring in business finance.

Reynolds and his Westview teammates play Phoenix South Mountain in the semi-finals of the 5A2 state playoffs this Friday.
