SoCal DL Still Likes Four

Sedric Ellis, a 6-3, 265 pound defensive end from Chino (Calif.) narrowed his list of colleges to four a month or so ago and that still is the case. Ellis won't worry about recruiting while his season is going on as his team is aiming to get back to the CIF Div II Championship game.

Chino has been one of the most dominant teams in the state this year, currently ranked No. 6 in the state by CalHiSports.com and Ellis is a big reason why. He could be the best defensive tackle on the West Coast and is equally good at rushing the passer or playing the run.

"We've been doing real well, we're 6-0 right now," Ellis said. "I don't know what my stats are, we don't really keep them. I've been playing all over the line though and even scored a touchdown last game playing some fullback, that was a lot of fun."

Ellis narrowed his list to USC, UCLA, LSU and Miami some time ago and he said that's still the case.

"Yeah, those are my four schools and all but Miami has offered," Ellis said. "As a team, we don't worry about recruiting or anything else until after our season for the most part. Our coach doesn't want us distracted so I won't be setting any trips until after we're done which hopefully will be as late as possible.

"We really want to make it back to the CIF Championship game again. We lost in the finals last year to Mission Viejo and we would love to play them again. Right now, all my teams are equal. Like I said, it's not something I'm thinking a lot about and won't until our year is over."
