Four-star tight end Dion Jordan from Chandler (AZ) High School to make college intentions known today
Sources close to Scout.com have confirmed that four-star TE Dion Jordan from Chandler (AZ) High School will sign with the University of Oregon this February.
Jordan reportedly has been committed to Oregon for a few days but will make his college decision public today at his high school.
Jordan was offered by Cal, Nebraska, San Jose State, Michigan, Utah, Boise State, Arizona, Arizona State, San Diego State, Washington State, Oregon, Oregon State, Hawaii, Colorado and made official visits to Nebraska, Oregon and Colorado before reportedly narrowing his final choices down to Arizona State and Oregon.
The 6-6 210 pound Jordan was one time a part of Scout.com's national top 100 but a burn accident left some doubts if he may ever have been able to suit up again. Extensive rehab has seen Jordan get out of the hospital, back on to the basketball court and in the weight room. Obviously, a full recovery is expected. Scout still ranks Jordan as the number 10 TE prospect in the country.
Because the accident took away the better part of his senior season, Jordan was not able to match the 54 catches and 13 scores he had as a junior but he was able to garner first team all region accolades at defensive end.
Jordan told Scout.com's Allen Wallace earlier this week, "It's (Oregon) just a cool and laid-back place and all the players seemed like cool guys and they accepted me and made me feel welcome."
The Ducks are getting a player that can play a variety of positions. Since the staff at Oregon wants to start him out at WR, his size/speed combination will create match-up problems, giving him a big size advantage over corners when he lines up at receiver.
Here is junior video of Jordan playing both wide receiver and tight end. The Ducks have expressed an interest in Jordan playing wideout.
