Swedenburg Prepares For Official Visit

Baker Swedenburg looks forward to the day when he will run out of the tunnel at Davis-Wade stadium and join his teammates on the playing surface of Scott Field. Baker will take an important step towards that goal when he gets to meet with some of his future teammates during his official visit.

"I am coming on the 25th," said Baker. "They said a bunch of the commitments are coming in that weekend, so it's a team chemistry kind of thing right off the bat which is good."

Swedenburg grew up making regular visits to the Starkville campus, so he is familiar with the lay of the land. The talented punter is anxious to get a behind the scenes look at Bulldog football.

"Being a State fan you get to see a lot of what's already on campus," Baker. "I am eager to see the stuff behind the doors and see more about the football team. I keep hearing I am going to eat a lot of food. That's good because I need to gain as much weight as I can."

Baker's name was found on several post-season awards lists that have recently been released by the media.

"I was named 1st team All-Conference, 1st team All State and 2nd team All-State by the Clarion Ledger," said Swedenburg.

Despite the accolades, Baker felt he could have had an even better season in 2007.

"I felt I did average this year which is not satisfying," said Swedeburg. "It's not like I wasn't trying my best, but I feel like I could have done better in certain situations."

The Heritage Academy standout is now getting ready to complete his high school career on the baseball diamond.

"We had our first practice today to kick of the new year," said Baker. "Right now we're doing a lot of conditioning."
