It is easy to see these attributes when watching this hard hitting safety on film, as the 6' 1", 210 pound All-State selection simply unloads on the offensive players. Watching him on offense, you can tell he brings that aggressive attitude to that side of the ball too.
"I am money on the goal line. My junior year, I started scoring from outside the red zone. But running between the tackles is my strength. I run hard and down hill. I love to run over people."
This past season, Khiry focused his attention at safety and totaled 86 tackles, 1 interception, 5 pass breakups, and caused 3 fumbles.
"I have to say running back is my favorite position. This year was my first full year of playing safety, and I did not play any running back. It made me realize how much I love playing running back. I miss it. It is my more natural position."
The long time Arkansas commit had several more options to choose from before he committed to the Hogs.
"I was offered by Michigan State, N' Western, Indiana, Minnesota, Kentucky, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Arkansas, North Carolina State, Boston College, and Georgia Tech, but I went with Arkansas because I loved their staff so much."
Now the majority of that staff is at Ole Miss.
"It was tough at the beginning not knowing where they were going to land. When I went to Ole Miss last summer, I felt like they had the best academic support group, and now that Coach Nutt and them are there, I am definitely looking real hard at Ole Miss. Me and Coach (Chris) Vaughn are very close, and I think Coach Nutt is one of the best coaches around."
Have any official visits been set?
am going to Ole Miss this weekend and Arkansas next."
Anymore colleges been calling trying to get in the game after Nutt left Arkansas?
(laugh), you could say that. Boston College has been on me real hard ever since
the change. North Carolina State is too. Georgia Tech has been calling too, but
it is pretty much down to Ole Miss and Arkansas."
says it is down to two schools; he still remains publicly committed to Arkansas.
"I am still committed to those guys. Coach Petrino and his brother have been calling me on a weekly basis. We are starting the whole recruiting process over. I want to see what type of people they are and what kind of men they are, face to face. I will be spending 5 years at either Arkansas or Ole Miss. It is important to go with the people you feel the most comfortable with. But one thing that Arkansas has over Ole Miss is that they are recruiting me at running back and Coach Nutt likes me at safety."
What will the final decision be based on?
"I am just waiting for that face to face talk with the Arkansas staff to see if it is going to work out. I know what the Ole Miss staff is about. I know what the Ole Miss school is about. I saw it this past summer. I know what Arkansas's school is about. It all comes down to how I feel about the new staff at Arkansas."
