Midwest Recruiting Notebook

It is a busy time on the recruiting trail as schools are trying to close out their classes as the countdown to signing day has literally begun. Over the last week there has been a lot of news as far as visits and commits are concerned.

Florida cornerback Antonio Fenelus recently narrowed his choices down to Wisconsin and Florida Atlantic. The 5-foot-10, 175-pounder, from Boca Raton had an in-home visit from Badgers assistant Coach Dave Doeren who left the Fenelus home a very happy man.

"Yes, I'm definitely committed to Wisconsin now." Fenelus told Badger Nation.

"What it came down to was just a gut feeling. Coach Doeren came to my house last night and I just came away with the feeling that everyone told me to look for. The gut feeling I got was that Wisconsin was the place for Me.

"Wisconsin is a great school with a very good football tradition. I've followed Wisconsin a little bit because of the fact that they have some guys on the team from Florida. Wisconsin has great fans and they play in a major conference.

Randy Salmon
Louisville recently missed on Stockbridge (GA) quarterback Tyler Bass, who committed to Maryland. But the Cardinals still could land Bass' talented teammate, 6'3, 290-pound defense tackle Randy Salmon, who will make an official visit to Louisville this weekend.

"I'm going up to Louisville tomorrow," Salmon told InsideTheVille.com Thursday night. "I have a visit scheduled to Michigan State next weekend, but if I commit to Louisville that would be my last visit."

How strong a possibility is a Salmon commit to Louisville this weekend?

"It's high," Salmon said. "They've been with me from the get-go and they've worked with me and helped me get my (academic) stuff together. They've shown me that I'm one of the top guys that they want."

Kenny Stafford
Columbus (Ohio) DeSales wide receiver Kenny Stafford has seen a lot of talk about where he might be going. After taking part in the Offense/Defense All-American Bowl, the Columbus, Ohio wide receiver has started to narrow things down.

Having looked at Toledo and Akron, Stafford is now set for an official visit this weekend at Nebraska.

While many talk about his relationship with his uncle former NFL wide receiver Chris Carter, Stafford is a solid player with many of the same abilities shown by his uncle during his long career.

"I'm going to Nebraska on Friday for an official visit this weekend and I'm looking forward to see what they have to offer," Stafford told Scout.com on Thursday afternoon.

Brandon Moore
Trotwood (Ohio) Trotwood-Madison tight end and Michigan commit Brandon Moore is in Miami currently taking an official visit to see the Canes.

"He will also likely visit Florida next weekend," Trotwood assistant coach Jeremy Beckham told Scout.com
