With the 2008 recruiting class now pretty much closed, the focus now shifts to the class of 2009.
"I'm pretty excited," says Murphy of the offers. "ASU would be pretty cool. My sister plays basketball there. I have been in Arizona my whole life, nothing would be easier then going to ASU. I like them a lot."
The Sun Devil staff has told Murphy that a written offer will come shortly.
Despite the high interest in the Devils, Murphy says, "I plan on waiting and seeing what other offers come in."
"My teammate Ray Polk's running back coach came to talk to Ray and ended up offering me a scholarship." He adds, "It was pretty casual, he just said I had an offer from Colorado."
These two schools plus Arizona are the only ones who have been in contact. The Wildcats have not offered but said they would like him to attend camp this summer.
Murphy missed five full games for the 5A1 state champion Broncos. He went down near midseason with a fractured knee. He recovered and came back to play in the last regular season game and through the playoff run. Murphy says he is fully recovered and registered roughly 50 tackles on the year.
