Junior DE Pulls Two Early Offers

The class of 08 is now signed and delivered, on to 09. One Arizona junior recently was offered by two big time programs.

With the 2008 recruiting class now pretty much closed, the focus now shifts to the class of 2009.

Phoenix (AZ) Brophy Prep DE Trent Murphy becomes the sixth player from Arizona's class of '09 to receive an offer. Both Arizona State and Colorado extended verbal offers to the 6-6 235 pound Murphy.

"I'm pretty excited," says Murphy of the offers. "ASU would be pretty cool. My sister plays basketball there. I have been in Arizona my whole life, nothing would be easier then going to ASU. I like them a lot."

The Sun Devil staff has told Murphy that a written offer will come shortly.

Despite the high interest in the Devils, Murphy says, "I plan on waiting and seeing what other offers come in."

Colorado has established a pipeline at Brophy, getting OT Blake Behrens two years ago and langing RB Ray Polk this year.

"My teammate Ray Polk's running back coach came to talk to Ray and ended up offering me a scholarship." He adds, "It was pretty casual, he just said I had an offer from Colorado."

These two schools plus Arizona are the only ones who have been in contact. The Wildcats have not offered but said they would like him to attend camp this summer.

Murphy missed five full games for the 5A1 state champion Broncos. He went down near midseason with a fractured knee. He recovered and came back to play in the last regular season game and through the playoff run. Murphy says he is fully recovered and registered roughly 50 tackles on the year.

Here are clips of Trent from his junior year. He wears #93:
