Athletic Lineman Grabs More Offers

One of the finest in Princeton, N.J., has picked up three more offers today when Miami, Duke and Purdue came calling for Anthony LaLota. These three most recent offers now give him 18 official scholarship offers and with a few other schools close to pulling the trigger the lineman could be over the 20 mark by the time we all flip our calendars to April.

Hun School offensive lineman/defensive end Anthony LaLota continues to bring in the offers and the 6-foot-6, 260-pound athlete also found some time to travel south and visit the University of Florida this week to take in some spring practices. While he is still waiting on offers from the Gators, Notre Dame and Michigan he does have a bevy of schools to choose from right now.

"Miami, Duke and Purdue all offered me at defensive end today," LaLota stated. "I don't know a whole lot about Purdue other then they offer a very good education and play in the Big Ten which is obviously a very competitive conference with great tradition."

"I know that Duke just brought in a new head coach in David Cutcliffe and is really trying to get their football program turned around," LaLota said. "They are another school that obviously is one of the best in the nation academically and schooling is near the top of my list when it comes to priorities in recruiting."

"I also spoke with Coach Jeff Stoutland today and he said that he and another coach would be handling my recruiting," LaLota explained. "Coach Stoutland came off as a very straight forward guy who is honest and I liked that. Miami has a great tradition of winning and while they've been a bit down lately, they did just bring in an awesome recruiting class and are headed in the right direction under Head Coach Randy Shannon. They're also a good school academically which is important."

LaLota also stopped by and visited the Gators recently.

"I was at Florida on Wednesday and really liked it there. The coaching staff was very energetic and knowledgeable and I got to sit in on a defensive line meeting. I really like Coach Urban Meyer and thought the campus and facilities were great. I met Justin Trattou while I was down there who is a cool guy that is also from New Jersey and plays defensive end."

For the record, LaLota holds written scholarship offers from Rutgers, Virginia, Stanford, Michigan State, Maryland, West Virginia, Vanderbilt, LSU, Northwestern, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Arkansas, Syracuse, Boston College, Connecticut, Miami, Duke and Purdue.
