Scout.com Top 100 member Shaquelle Evans, a 6-foot-2, 192-pound wide receiver from Inglewood High in Cali., has offers from schools like USC, LSU, Oklahoma, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Washington, UCLA, California, UNLV, and Colorado.
Evans admits that one of his biggest assets is his ability to go out and make a play.
"I think I do whatever it takes. Wherever the ball is thrown I am going to catch it. When the ball is in the air I feel like it is mine. I also try t make plays in the special teams game."
Oklahoma was one of the most recent schools to extend Evans an offer, and even though he does not know a whole lot about the program right now, he is looking to get more familiar with them.
"I have not talked to them much, but they are a real traditional school that is a winning program," Evans informed. "It is just a real honor to get an offer from a school like Oklahoma that is that far away from California."
When watching the film it is easy to see why Evans definitely has the skills to be considered as one of the most elite players in the country. He admits that at first there is a learning curve to the recruiting process.
"It is very difficult, but you get used to it," Evans explained. "At first it was kind of overwhelming. It is actually kind of easy for me now to deal with it."
It would be a difficult task for any school that is not on the West Coast to pull down a commitment from Evans, especially when USC has thrown their hat in the mix, but the four-star receiver says that he would like to at least take a look at some other programs next Fall.
‘I am going to try to take my official trips," Evans said. "I hope to go to Cal (unofficial) sometime in the next month, but of course I want to try to take my trips to the schools on the East Coast, and then I can work in visits to the West Coast schools. I am going to take my actual official trips to schools I have never seen before."
"I would like to go to Notre Dame, LSU, Oklahoma, and Ohio State. I would like to take trips to see those schools. I just want to explore those schools and see what they have."
During his junior season at Inglewood, Evans had 37 catches for 700 yards and six touchdowns. Academically, Evans has a 3.5 GPA and scored a 1230 on the SAT.
