Williams Preparing to Narrow List

It had been previously reported that Brennan Williams was holding a scholarship from Penn State, however he did not officially get that offer in the mail until Monday afternoon. That marks the tenth offer for the West Roxbury, Mass., native and we talked about it with him, as well as the five schools he has taken unofficial visits to recently.

Brennan Williams, a 6-foot-6, 260-pound offensive lineman from Catholic Memorial High School has pocketed offers from Penn State, Boston College, Connecticut, Maryland, Rutgers, Syracuse, Virginia, Duke, Stanford and Wake Forest and visited quite a few of those schools over the past few weeks. Read further for a rundown of those visits.

"Penn State officially offered me on Sunday the 20th and I just got the letter in the mail today (Monday)," Williams said. "I have always liked Penn State and they were one of the first schools I visited. They have a great atmosphere on campus there and it's almost like having a pro team right there in your own town. The fans are definitely diehard. The one thing that really worries me about them is their coaching stability though because that's a high priority on my list."

Williams talked a bit about each school he visited recently:

Duke - "I went down to the spring game not knowing much about them, but got a good feeling for the school while I was there. The campus was really nice and I liked the new coaching staff a lot. They are a very good school academically, but I'd like to see them win more games."

Wake Forest - "I knew nothing about them going into the visit, but I came out of it really liking what I learned. The campus was very small and reminded me a lot of my high school as everyone seemed to know each other which was cool. I like the coaching staff at Wake a lot too."

Virginia - "I've been there a bunch of times now, so I just talked to Head Coach Al Groh for a while about the NFL Draft and my junior year film. Most of my junior year highlights are playing defensive line and he told me that they aren't sure if they want me on offense or defense now. Coach Groh and my father have known each other for a long time as he coached my dad when he was with the New England Patriots."

Maryland - "My visit to Maryland went well. At first I was a bit intimidated by the size of the campus, but once we got settled in I saw that it was more compact where I needed it to be. I really like their stadium a lot and my parents thought the staff was great."

Boston College - "I went to their spring game and have been to Boston College about a million times now, so I'm very familiar with them and have a very good relationship with the staff. I got to sit in on an offensive line meeting while I was there."

Williams plans to trim his list down to six schools on June 1st and says he wants to make a decision sooner rather than later.
