Collins Plans Summer Camps

Jamie Collins and his Franklin County teammates came up one win short of bringing home a state title. The versatile signal caller did more than enough last season to earn the attention of college recruiters. The prospects of Jamie leaving his home state for his college days appear to be pretty good.

"Things are going pretty good," said Collins. "I have offers from Alcorn State, Auburn and Southern Miss. Michigan is recruiting me pretty hard. They want me to come up to their camp. I am going to camp up there, over at Auburn and probably at Mississippi State."

Franklin County is breaking in a new coaching staff and a new scheme this season. Collins reports that the transition has been smooth.

"It's been easy for me," said Jamie. "We had a good spring. We didn't play anybody in a game or anything like that. We just scrimmaged with each other. We had a good many coaches come by. Mississippi State, Tulane, Southern Miss, Alcorn, Ole Miss and a few other schools all came by. Most schools are talking about me playing wide receiver or DB, but Michigan and Ole Miss are talking about me playing quarterback."

Jamie denies an overall leader and is content to take his time and patiently go through the recruiting process. Right now his focus is on self improvement and getting back to Jackson for a chance at a state title.

"I am trying to work on the small things," said Collins. "We all just need to keep working hard and help each other get better."
