Hopefully turning some heads

There isn't an offer on the table for this wide receiver from Missouri by Nebraska so coming to camp was all about making an impression. The first day is about testing out and some other things, but generally it's pretty slow. In the limited amount of things to do today this receiver still thinks that he did well enough in his drills to catch Nebraska's eye.

A player that is in Lincoln today that is trying to catch the eye of the Nebraska coaches is Keith Langtry. Langtry, a 6-foot-2 and 181-pound wide receiver, is from Kansas City (Mo.) Rockhurst.

"Yes sir, I am in Lincoln," Langtry said. "We did all of our testing and it was kind of slow. First day of camps are usually slow.

"We just tested, spoke with our position coaches, ate and played this game called Husker Ball. It's more or less just seven on seven with some other rules. It's kind of razzle-dazzle.

Despite testing, Langtry was not able to get his times from the Nebraska staff. "They didn't tell us what our times were. We didn't get measured at all either."

"We only got to do ever test just once. For just doing it once I thought that I did pretty well. I thought I did well in the shuttle. We also did the 40 and broad jump."

While Langtry is hoping to catch Nebraska's eye, it's pretty clear that they have caught his. This was his first trip to Lincoln and so far he has really enjoyed it.

"This is the first time ever in Lincoln. I like it. All of the coaches were real cool. I spoke to Coach Bo Pelini. Lincoln reminds me of Lawrence, really new and clean."

As a receiver, Langtry had some nice stats last year pulling in 40 receptions for 887 yards, 22.2 average per catch and 11 touchdowns. He was all-state last year.

"I know how to get open. That is probably my biggest strength. Also, getting to balls that aren't thrown directly to me. I think that I have real good ball skills."

The contact up to camp hasn't been real heavy from Nebraska to Langtry. There has been mail, no calls last month, but Langtry is hoping to change that.

"Nebraska has been sending me mail, but no phone call last month. I really came up here to catch their eye and felt like I did a good job of that today."

One of the players at the camp that has caught Langtry's eye has been Ty Kildow from Omaha (Nebr.) Millard South. Kildow had a blazing fast 40, did well on special teams and was a team mate with Langtry in Husker Ball.

"There was a guy here from Millard South named Ty Kildow. He tested out really well, he was fast. They told him his time and I think that he ran a 4.39.

"While we were doing Husker Ball they were punting to him to see if he could catch. He looks really good out there. He is on my time. That isn't a bad thing."
