GA LB Talks of First Offer

The state of Georgia's impressive haul of college football scholarship offers increased by one recently when defensive end Chris Crenshaw picked up his first college option.

Chris camped at Mississippi State this past weekend on the heels of picking up an offer from the Bulldogs.

"It went good," said Crenshaw of his camping trip. "They had offered me before the camp. It was about two weeks ago. I talked with Coach Turner and he told me over the phone."

The Peach State standout has made a name for himself as a defensive end, but he got the chance to play in a two point stance this past weekend.

"They had me at linebacker to see how I could stand up," said Chris. "They did some coverage drills and some footwork drills. I think I did pretty good."

The camp provided Crenshaw the chance to work out under the direction of his prospective position coach, MSU linebackers' coach Louis Campbell.

"Coach Campbell is a real good coach," said Chris. "He gave me a lot of tips. He talked to me about getting back into coverage. It was my first time to play linebacker, so I had a lot to learn."

Camping in Starkville gave Chris the chance to catch a glimpse of what it would be like to play for the Bulldogs. The idea is one he is warming to.

"Mississippi State is my top school," said Crenshaw. "I like their defense. I got the chance to see them play Ole Miss on TV last year. I saw that linebacker, Chaney, hit that receiver from Ole Miss. He really laid him out. I like that. That's how I want to play."

Crenshaw will camp at South Carolina on Thursday and Georgia Tech on Friday.
