"I really liked the staff and I loved that when I went there to watch a practice, I saw the camaraderie between the staff and players," Jacob said. "It seems like a great place to play and a great atmosphere."
But it wasn't just the atmosphere that caught Jacob's attention.
"The offense really sparked my interest," Jacob said. "(Current Ball State TE) Darius Hill caught something like 65 balls last year and there are schools out there where the #1 WR only catches like 70-75, so to see a Tight End get that many catches really makes you want to get in there and see what you can do. It is a great opportunity."
Helping Jacob along the way in his recruiting was his father, Bobby, who was also a standout at Wyoming High and played for Pittsburg.
"I told him that the Ball State coaches were very sincere with him," Bobby said. "I told him that he needed to go to a place that really wants him and that wants him to play where he wants to play. Ball State showed a very high interest in Jacob as a TE and they saw him as a player who can come in and make plays."
Also aiding in the recruiting, according the elder Green, was another current Cardinal – Robert Brewster.
"Robert is a fellow Wyoming grad," Bobby said. "He spoke very highly of the staff and school and he said how much he loves it there at Ball State."
