Filiaga eyes visit to Washington

Washington has made some inroads in Utah this year and Bingham (South Jordan) LB L.T. Filiaga is a player that has the Huskies high on his list of schools. He's been to Seattle to several times, but he's never been to Montlake and he hopes to change that this fall when he begins taking his official visits.

"My brother lived up in Seattle for a few years so I've been up there a lot actually," Filiaga told Dawgman.com recently. "I really like the city and the people up there. It's a nice area. It's got water and mountains on both sides of the city and it's a big city so there are things to do other than just hanging out on campus."

Filiaga has been pulling in the offers lately, notching offers from BYU, Utah, Stanford, Arizona, UNLV and most recently, Washington.

"They offered me a few weeks ago," Filiaga said. "Coach (Brian) White is the coach recruiting me for them and he's really energetic and he's passionate about the game. He is excited about what they have going on up there and he wants me to come up for a visit."

Filiaga said he may try to make it up to Seattle again before his season starts to check out the Huskies and their facilities, but he said if not, he plans to take an official visit after his senior season.

"I'm not going to decide anytime soon," Filiaga said. "I want to play my season and then I will take all my visits after that.

"My senior season is something that means a lot to me and I think we have a real chance to be great this year, so I'm not going to let my personal things like recruiting get involved and be a distraction."

As a junior in 2007, Filiaga helped lead his team, which finished 11-2, to the state 5A semifinals while wracking up 98 tackles (45 solo), three forced fumbles and one sack.

Filiaga, who is LDS, reports a 3.8 core GPA and a 19 on the ACT and he plans to graduate in December so he can play spring ball for whichever school he commits to and then he wants to play his freshman season before taking his two year Morman mission.

We'll continue to track his progress and update things as they change.
