Ga. LB Nears Dozen

Stephen Roberts, linebacker at Starrs Mill High School in Fayetteville, Ga., has visited a number of campuses this summer. He had a good showing at Auburn's camp last Saturday where he received some positive feedback.

"The Auburn camp went pretty good," Stephen Roberts said. "It went really good, actually. I had a good 40 [yard dash] and a good vert [vertical leap]. I ran a 4.65 there. My vertical was 36 inches."

"The coaches said that I was looking good out there. Coach Willis [linebackers coach] said that he would keep an eye on me during my season to see how I do. They haven't mentioned any offers, though."

The athletic prospect has planned three more camps this summer.

"This Saturday I'm going to Florida State," he said. "Sunday I'm going to Vanderbilt. Then the next week I'll probably be going to Ole Miss for their camp. Those will probably be my last three camps."

Roberts is now up to 10 scholarship offers. He had a few early favorites, but has been undecided for quite some time.

"I'm still undecided," he commented. "That's because they're all good schools. I just can't get it down to three or five right now. They're all really good schools. That's all that I can really say."

Roberts will play two new positions for Starrs Mill this fall.

"They're moving me to middle linebacker next year," he said. "I look forward to stopping the run inside, and going into coverage from that position. I'll be playing some fullback on offense. I'm looking forward to getting the ball and running. I've always wanted to do that. I want to do the best for my team. That's the most important thing."
