"UCLA was my most recent offer. They offered me a couple of weeks ago as a corner," said Sermons. "Coach (DeWayne) Walker offered me and then I got to talk to Coach (Rick) Neuheisel some."
Sermons, the younger brother of former USC running back Rodney Sermons, is waiting on the Trojans to join the fray.
"I hear from them a lot and Coach (Pete) Carroll told me they want to see some senior film," said Sermons. "If I start out hot, they could offer me, too. The thing is, on my film, teams didn't really throw it to my side so I didn't have a lot chances to make plays. So I'm hoping more teams will throw to my side."
Sermons said that he's gone from having a top five, to being wide open. "I'm just keeping all of my options open," said Sermons. "I don't want to make any conclusions yet."
Sermons did, however, say some of the schools he'd like to visit.
"I want to take an official visit to Arizona State, Arizona, Colorado and one of the Oregon schools, I just don't know which one," said Sermons. "I'll probably just take unofficial visits to the California schools."
Sermons did, however, recently visit both the Los Angeles schools, taking in a fall practice at each one. "I went to UCLA's practice and USC's practice and they're real nice," said Sermons.
While Sermons didn't camp anywhere this summer, he did work with Diamond Ranch in passing league, preparing for what will be one of the more difficult schedules in the CIF-SS.
"Our season is upcoming and I'm really pumped. We start on Monday (today) then we play Muir, Oaks Christian, Colony and Bishop Amat. I like the challenging schedule a lot, it gets us ready for our league. We definitely have our work cut out for us."
This fall, Sermons will also dabble in some running back.
"I'll play tailback and maybe some receiver," said Sermons. "But my main job is corner."
Sermons said he'd also like to do track in college, having run the 100m, 200m, 4x100m and 4x400m in high school.
Academically, he has a 3.0 GPA and scored a 1370 on the SAT.
During his junior season, Sermons averaged six tackles a game and had a pair of interceptions.
