State Conference Previews: Metro (Mountain)

O'Dea and Eastside Catholic dominated the league last season. It shows in the individual talent that fills out their rosters. Both graduated great players but have plenty of talent to fill the holes...

So many talent underclassmen were on last season's team that I felt bad leaving any off. Hard to believe that a team that graduated possibly the best player in state last year, Johri Fogerson, may be just as good again this season. Instead of the usual bios I have listed out all the players that I think are worth noticing, there are quite a few...

WR Alonzo Jackson, Sr., O'Dea. 1st team all-league. Averaged almost 19 yards per catch.

TE John Buhrman, Sr., O'Dea.1st team all-league

T Grant Enger, Sr., O'Dea. 1st team all-league. Multiple Pac-10 offers. Could be the best offensive lineman in the state. Opening holes for the many backs that figure to fill the O'Dea backfield.

T Danny Kistler, Sr., O'Dea.1st team all-league. Massive tackle, listed 6'-7" 316 pounds

RB Zach Fogerson, Jr., O'Dea. 2nd team all-league. Averaged 5 yards per carry last season. Has to fill his big brothers shoes. Should be one of the states top players the next two seasons.

WR/CB Chandler Gayton, Sr., O'Dea. 2nd team offense, 1st team defense.

ILB Allen Mooney, Sr., O'Dea. 1st team all-league. Committed to Boise St. Great athlete, physically dominating, and huge hitter.

Eastside Catholic

Just behind O'Dea in the metro league is Eastside catholic. Eastside made a state appearance last season. They bring back many of the major pieces in last year's playoff run...

WR Andrew Carlton, Sr., Eastside Catholic 2nd team all-league. Shared receptions with UW player Vince Taylor last season. Should see majority of the passes this year.

OLB Nick Tengtio, Sr., Eastside Catholic. 1st team all-league. Anchors the defense for Eastside along with Kellen Matsuno (listed below).

OLB Kellen Matsuno, Sr., Eastside Catholic. 1st team all-league. Defense returns 5 first or second team all-league performers.

CB Marion Bactol, Sr., Eastside Catholic 1st team all-league.

Rest of the League

DT Zane Sackett, Sr., Bainbridge 1st team all-league. Lone returning first team performer for Bainbridge.

RB Ross Cobb, Sr., Bainbridge 2nd team all-league. Averaged an amazing 11 yards per carry. Team also returns QB Jordan Wagner

WR Monte Brown, Sr., Bishop Blanchet1st team all-league. Over 500 yards and 17 yards per catch.

QB Spencer Marquiss, Sr., Bishop Blanchet 2nd team all-league. Leader of the only team that has a chance to challenge O'Dea and Eastside at the top of the standings.

ILB Connor O'Boyle, Sr., Seattle Prep 2nd team all-league. Only major playmaker returning for a team that sorely needs more. Seattle Prep will try and improve on the 1-4 league record they posted last season.

DE Leland Stratton, Sr., Lakeside 2nd team all-league. Should be a force the league has to deal with all season. Undersized but plays with big heart.

QB Peter Kimmey, Sr., Lakeside 2nd team all-league. Hopes of Lakeside winning a league game this season rest heavily on Peter's shoulders. Needs to play big if they want to have a good season.

Long list of players for a small conference, but let me know if anyone else comes to mind...
