Arizona's top center prospect, Doug Zismann from Phoenix (Az.) Shadow Mountain HS, has four offers to his credit and was able to visit one of those schools unofficially last week.
Zismann (6-3 280) drove up to Las Vegas to watch UNLV and Nevada battle it out. Zismann says, "It was my time seeing a college football game live ever." He adds, "The atmosphere was really good, it was electric. It was great seeing the rival game between UNLV and UNR."
Doug was able to talk to a few players and they gave him a feeling that he seemed to like. Zismann comments, "They told me and I saw that the coaches are really involved in the players' lives. It is a big family atmosphere. They all have the same goals and are together as one."
He adds, "UNLV recruits character players. They don't want guys getting in trouble in Vegas."
He was able to speak with Coach Sanford briefly before the game, "He just said hi and thanked me for coming and he told me, 'We are committed to you."
As far as naming UNLV his favorite, Zismann did not want to go that far stating, "I haven't seen any other campuses to compare it to."
He also has offers from Army, Navy and Air Force. He will visit UNLV officially on Dec. 20th and will visit Army but has not set a date yet. Neither Air Force nor Navy have talked about an official visit. Nevada-Reno has also shown interest.
So when does Doug forsee himself committing? "Not before I finish taking my visits," he says. "That would not be fair to myself or to the schools. If I have the options, why not weigh them?"
Stay tuned with Scout.com for more on Zismann's recruitment.
