Walker May Talks Commodores

Walker May, Scout.com three-star weakside linebacker from Birmingham-Briarwood Christian, (Ala.), is having a great senior season. May has helped the Lions to a 7-1 record. He is committed to Vanderbilt and been to Nashville several times this season to watch the Commodores.

"The season is going great," said Walker May. "We are 7-1 and 5-1 in the region. We will play Florence at home on Friday night."

"I have been doing good this year. I am only playing defensive end. I have 60 tackles, 14 sacks and two fumble recoveries."

Vanderbilt has been one of the surprise teams of the SEC this year and almost pulled the upset over Georgia. May has been impressed.

"I have been to every home game this year," May said. "I have loved it. It's cool to be up there. I like seeing how my future is going to be. They came out strong and have been very good. I really can't wait to get up there next year."

"I have been staying in touch with coach [Robbie] Caldwell. He is an awesome guy. He is going to tell you like it is. He will joke and laugh with you off the field, but when he is on the field it's all business."

The 6-foot-5, 205-pound prospect isn't sure which position he will play at Vanderbilt, but he knows where to improve before arriving in Nashville.

"Vanderbilt wants me as either an outside linebacker or a defensive end in their 3-4 defense," he explained. "I am not sure where I will play yet. I like both positions. I wouldn't have a problem playing either one."

"The main thing I want to improve is my weight. That is what I am going to focus on before I get to Vanderbilt."

May plans to attend the remaining Vanderbilt home games and will take an official visit January 19.
