Sulphur Springs over Denison's D.J. Jones

The Sulphur Springs Wildcats knocked the Denison Yellow Jackets out of the 4A playoffs 42-21 Friday night in Texas Stadium. It was the second straight year the Wildcats have beat Denison. The game of the night in the Texas Stadium triple header featured two of the state's top juniors in Sulphur Springs safety Bryant Jackson and Denison running back D.J. Jones.

D. J. Jones had his moments in the blowout loss rushing for 134 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries, while Bryant Jackson came off the bench to post two pass break ups and three key tackles, including a fourth and two stop on Jones. Jackson has been battling sickness the last two weeks and hasn't not been able to play a high number of snaps.

Jones finished his junior season with a Denison school record 2,636 rushing yards and 39 total touchdowns on 238 carries.

Jackson and Sulphur Springs advance to face Rockwall-Heath next weekend. Jackson has 82 tackles, eight pass break ups and five interceptions on the season.
