Florida WR enjoys Big 12 visit

Erick McGriff is a talented wide receiver prospect from Tampa (Fla.) Jesuit and Scout.com caught up with him, soon after he returned home from his first official visit. Read on for the latest.

"I went out to Kansas for an official visit this past weekend," Erick McGriff said. "It was real good. I toured the campus, saw the football field, watched the basketball game, did a bunch of different things. It was good."

McGriff, 6-foot-3 and 190 pounds, talked about what he liked most about his Jayhawk visit.

"I really liked the players and coaches," he said. "I liked how they got along so well. Everyone is like one big family out there."

Next up on the visit schedule for the talented receiver is a trip to Troy. He's looking forward to that one in January.

"I like Troy because they throw the ball a lot," he said. "They're one of the top offensive teams in college football. They threw the ball 70 times one time this season. They average more plays per game than anyone else in college football so they're giving their players a lot of good opportunities and I like that."

McGriff said Kansas and Troy, both of whom have offered, are at the top of his list.

"I was talking to Coach Dawsey from Florida State but it's been a few weeks since I talked to him," he said. "I like Kansas and Troy and will see what happens after my visits."

McGriff helped lead his team to a 6-4 record this season. He caught 43 passes for 742 yards and five touchdowns on the season.
