AU Commitment Attracting Attention

Cameron Kenney updates his recruiting status with Auburn and other colleges.

Dacula, Ga.--Juco standout Cameron Kenney committed to Auburn in August to Tommy Tuberville and the former Auburn coaching staff. Is the wide receiver still planning on signing with the Tigers?

"I still consider myself committed to Auburn, but I am looking at my options, too," Kenney says.

The 6-2, 196-pounder with 4.48 speed is back home in Georgia after wrapping up fall semester classes at Garden City Community College in Kansas.

Kenney notes that he had interesting visitors on Tuesday. "Coaches for Georgia came by to see me and they offered me," he says. "Also, Southern Miss has offered and Kansas State is really recruiting me hard, too.

The wideout had recently received a visit from Auburn assistant coaches Terry Price and Greg Knox, but neither were retained by new Auburn head coach Gene Chizik, who is on the recruiting trail visiting prospects this week, but hasn't had a chance to stop by Dacula yet, the receiver notes.

Kenney earned first team all-conference honors this year despite this season despite missing four of Garden City's 6-4 campaign with an injury. He also earned honorable mention all-conference as a kicker.

As a freshman he was Special Teams Player of the Year in the Jayhawk Conference as well as a first-team pick at receiver, punter and punt returner. He was a soccer standout at Dacula High before deciding to play football as a senior.

Kenney says he had a good semester in the classroom and is on track to graduate in the spring. "I just need to finish one more semester and I will be qualified to play in the SEC," he says.
