With the Boise State game just four days away and counting, we sometimes forget that the coaching staff is hard at working putting the finishing touches on the 2009 recruiting class. One commitment that was in town last weekend was Brownwood's Casey Pachall. The senior quarterback was recently named to the Associated Press Texas 3A All-State Team.

"Being able to be around the coaches and the guys that I will be around for the next four to five years was pretty cool," stated Pachall to BigPurpleNation.com. "The practices are really intense."

At 6'5, 190 pounds, Pachall runs the 40-yard dash in 4.63 seconds. He can bench press 245 pounds, and squats 385. The Scout.com 38th ranked quarterback, turned down offers from Notre Dame, Flordia, Nebraska, Arizona, Baylor, Houston, and Iowa State.

While on TCU's campus, Pachall spent most of his time with fellow TCU recruit, Waymon James. The two had not met face to face, but had been exchanging text messages though out the year. The two will likely try to be roommates in the freshman dorms this fall.

After practice on Saturday, Coach Patterson asked Pachall and James to come up in front of the team. The two, along with Eric Tausch (2009 center), were introduced to the team and welcomed into the family.

"It felt really good. It felt like were really important and not just new guys coming into the program. It made us feel like somebody," said Pachall.

Pachall will be enrolling this upcoming semester to try to get a head start on the offensive playbook. The eager high school senior, will look to try to contend for the starting spot next fall.

"I'm excited to start early and get sort of a head start on things," said Pachall. "He (Coach Patterson) told me coming in that he is not afraid to play the best guy. No matter what the age is he is going to play the best guy. I'm just going to give it a shot and try to win the job. If I don't, then I will red-shirt."
