4-star RB reacts to Miami coaching news

The University of Miami fired offensive coordinator Patrick Nix on Monday night and Scout.com caught up with four-star running back commitment Mike James to talk about it.

"I just heard about it a few minutes ago," Mike James said. "I was shocked. It really surprised me. It didn't seem like it when I was down there. It seemed like he'd be there for awhile. But that's all part of the business I guess."

James, 5-foot-11 and 210 pounds, committed to the Hurricanes back in the summer and his primary recruiter all year has been defensive line coach/recruiting coordinator Clint Hurtt.

"It doesn't impact my decision at all," he said. "I'm still a Cane. They're just doing what they gotta do I guess. I'm sure the players will just take it in and keep on going. That's pretty much all you can do."

The talented running back prospect said he's excited about moving to Miami in a few weeks.

"I can't wait," he said. "I'll be the only young running back there in the spring so I'm real excited about getting down there and doing what I need to do."
